I am 30 years old and apart from a few boxes and a couple of suitcases, I own absolutely nothing. I Am Not My Assets, perfectly describes one of my biggest insecurities. Sometimes I struggle with the thought that others may think I am not successful, because I don’t have anything material to show for it. Growing up I believed success was achieved once you attained material desires. Life showed me that in fact I was right; success is only achieved when you accomplish an aim or a purpose in your existence. But it also taught me that those desires could be anything, not just material things. I have learned that in my journey success is not measured by material assets, it is measured through my spiritual progress as a human soul. I am still struggling and learning with this insecurity. But I can honestly say it has helped me to start my path into detachment from material belongings and financial status quo. My only intention with this post is to share my insecurity and give the opportunity for others to step into my shoes. After all, maybe there is a lesson to be learned. I encourage you to take off the mask and join me and thousand of others in the "What I Be Project" by Steve Rosenfield to keep inspiring and helping others in their journey.

"The “What I Be Project” is a social experiment turned into, what is now, a global movement about honesty and empowerment. In today’s society, we are often told to look or act a certain way. If we differ from these “standards,” we are often judged, ridiculed, bullied and sometimes even killed over them. I started this project in hopes to open up the lines of communication, and to help everyone accept diversity with an open mind & heart and empower those who feel they suffer for something they may see as a flaw."
